BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM
NOTE: Use only DOT 4 grade brake fluid.
NOTE: Start at either rear caliper.
1. Raise and support vehicle. Connect bleed unit to brake fluid reservoir. Remove wheels.
NOTE: This step must be carried out between bleeding each brake caliper concerned.
2. Depress brake pedal a few times to remove any air bubbles in master cylinder.
3. Remove protective cap from bleed valve and connect hose from collecting bottle. See Fig. 2.
4. Open bleed valve and close it again when no air bubbles are visible in emerging fluid. Tighten bleed valve, remove hose from valve and install protective cap again.
5. Bleed remaining calipers according to sequence. See BRAKELINE BLEEDING SEQUENCE table.
6. Remove bleed unit connector from brake fluid reservoir when bleeding is complete.
7. Check for air left in brake system by depressing brake pedal as if braking sharply. With engine off and brake pedal depressed 3-4 times, pedal travel should not exceed 1.57" (40 mm). If pedal travel exceeds 1.57" (40 mm), bleed again and check pedal travel. Repeat until pedal travel is within limit.
8. Ensure fluid level is not over MAX mark.
9. Install wheels and lower vehicle. Tighten lugs to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS.
