High-pressure pipe between the pump and rail: Removal - Refitting
II - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART
Remove:
- the retaining stay bolt (4) on the cylinder block,
- the retaining stay bolt (5) on the intake distributor, a Clean the high pressure pipe unions between the pump and the rail (see 13B, Diesel injection, Diesel injection: Precautions for repair, page 13B-1).
Loosen the high pressure pipe unions on:
- the injection pump (6) ,CONCERNED
- the high pressure rail (7).
Remove the high pressure pipe between the pump and the rail.
Fit the appropriate blanking plugs into the openings of:
- the high pressure pump,
- the injector rail.
REFITTING
I - REFITTING PREPARATIONS OPERATION
Always replace:
- the high pressure pipe between the rail and the pump,
- the hollow bolt seals on the fuel return rail.
WARNING
Do not remove the blanking plugs from each component until the last moment.
Also, do not remove the components from their packaging until they are to be fitted to the vehicle.
II - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART CONCERNED
Fit a new high pressure pipe between the pump and the rail.
Without tightening, fit:
- the high pressure pipe unions on the pump and the rail,
- the retaining strut bolts,
Torque tighten and in order:
- the high pressure pipe unions between the pump and the rail (30 Nm) using the (Mot. 1566) ,
- the retaining strut bolts (28 Nm).
III - FINAL OPERATION.
Refit:
- the hollow bolt seals on the fuel return rail.
- the hollow bolt on the fuel return rail.
Torque tighten the fuel return rail hollow bolt (24 Nm).
Refit:
- the dipstick guide,
