Removing and installing solenoid of starters 37 MT and 41 MT (Delco Remy)

Removal instructions for the conventional solenoid
1 Remove the 1/4” connection screw from starter housing (item 2 in figure 1).
2 Remove the 1/4” screw of “M” terminal of solenoid (item 1 in figure 1).
3 Remove the starter connection plate (item 3 in figure 1).
4 Remove the starter inspection cover (item 4 in figure 1).
5 Remove the three solenoid mounting screws (item 6 in figure 1).
6 Remove the starter solenoid (item 7 in figure 1).
7 Remover the 5/16” nut from solenoid plunger rod (item 8 in figure 2).
8 Remove the solenoid plunger and sealing boot (items 9 and 11 in figure 2).
Removal instructions for the semi-solid link solenoid
1 Remove the 1/4” connection screw from starter housing (item 2 in figure 1).
2 Remove the 1/4” screw of “M” terminal of solenoid (item 1 in figure 1).
3 Remove the starter connection plate (item 3 in figure 1).
4 Remove the starter inspection cover (item 4 in figure 1).
5 Remove the three solenoid mounting screws (item 6 in figure 1).
- In order to avoid damages to plunger sealing boot, energize the pull-in coil of solenoid (apply tension between terminal S and ground/housing), or force side of solenoid to prevent the plunger rotating together with the nut.
6 Remove the 5/16” nut from solenoid plunger rod (item 8 in figure 2).
7 Remove starter solenoid (item 7 in figure 1).
Assembly instructions of semi-solid link solenoid
1 Fit the solenoid in the drive housing (item 10 in figure 1).
