Rear Suspension
The rear suspension consists of the following components:
· Upper arms
· Lower arms
· Shock absorbers
· Springs
· Wheel knuckles
· Wheel bearing and wheel hub assemblies
· Stabilizer bar and links
· Upper trailing arms
· Lower trailing arms
· Toe links
The vehicle can be equipped with either a vehicle dynamic suspension (using air springs in the rear of the vehicle) or a standard suspension (using coil springs in the rear of the vehicle). Both are an independent-type rear suspension which utilize a stabilizer bar to aid in vehicle stability. The wheel hub and wheel bearing assemblies are sealed units and are serviced as assemblies. The rear suspension has serviceable lower ball joints and wheel knuckle bushings. The rear suspension also incorporates toe links to adjust the rear toe and a camber adjustment can be made using camber shims located at the upper arm-to-frame mounts.
For information on the vehicle dynamic suspension, refer to Section 204-05.
