Flywheel Bore Runout Measurement, FD-1460
To measure flywheel housing bore runout, perform the following procedure:
1. Disconnect the injection pump fuel shutoff solenoid. Attach Dial Indicator with Bracketry TOOL-4201-C or equivalent to the flywheel housing. The dial indicator can be mounted by any method that holds the extension bar of the indicator rigid so it does not sag. If the bar sags or the indicator slips, the readings obtained will not be accurate.
2. Position the contact tip of the indicator against the inside diameter of the flywheel bore, and zero the gauge.
