The coolant recovery/overflow bottle (2) is mounted on the front of the radiator support and behind the grille.
The coolant recovery/overflow bottle (2) is made of high temperature plastic.
OPERATION

The coolant recovery/overflow bottle (2) works in conjunction with the radiator pressure cap. It utilizes thermal expansion and contraction of coolant to keep coolant free of trapped air. It provides a volume for expansion and contraction of coolant. It also provides a convenient and safe method for checking coolant level and adjusting level at atmospheric pressure. This is done without removing the radiator pressure cap. The system also provides some reserve coolant to the radiator to cover minor leaks and evaporation or boiling losses.
As the engine cools, a vacuum is formed in the cooling system of both the radiator and engine. Coolant will then be drawn from the coolant recovery/overflow bottle (2) and returned to a proper level in the radiator.
REMOVAL

1. Remove the exterior grille. Refer to GRILLE, REMOVAL .
2. Remove the recovery hose from the radiator.
NOTE: The lower support bolt is located under the lower active shutter seal. Image shown in illustration without the active shutter for clarity.
3. Remove the lower coolant recovery bottle (2) lower support bolt (3).
4. Remove the upper coolant recovery bottle to radiator support bolt (1).
5. Remove the coolant recovery bottle by pulling the assembly up and away from support.

1. Align the coolant recovery bottle (2) to the radiator support and push the coolant recovery bottle (2) into place.
