2007 ENGINE Engine - Five Hundred, Freestyle & Montego
REMOVAL
WARNING: Do not smoke or carry lighted tobacco or open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel-related component. Highly flammable mixtures are always present and may be ignited, resulting in possible personal injury.
WARNING: Fuel in the fuel system remains under high pressure even when the engine is not running. Before repairing or disconnecting any of the fuel system components, the fuel system pressure must be relieved to prevent accidental spraying of fuel, causing personal injury or a fire hazard.
All vehicles
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING article.
2. Release the fuel system pressure. For additional information, refer to FUEL SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION article.
3. Disconnect the negative and positive battery cables. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES article.
4. Recover the A/C system. For additional information, refer to CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION AND DIAGNOSTICS article.
5. Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe and air cleaner. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION AND FILTERING article.
6. Remove the cowl vent panel. For additional information, refer to FRONT END BODY PANELS article.
7. Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING article.
8. Remove the LH and RH halfshafts. For additional information, refer to FRONT DRIVE
HALFSHAFTS article.
9. Remove the exhaust flex pipe and LH catalytic converter. For additional information, refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM article.
10. Remove and discard the roll restrictor cross brace-to-roll restrictor bolt.

11. Remove and discard the 4 roll restrictor cross brace bolts and the cross brace.

12. Remove the bolt and detach the ground strap from the RH fender.

13. Disconnect the redundant clip, press the quick release coupling button and disconnect the fuel tube from the fuel rail.

14. Detach the fuel tube clip from the upper intake manifold.

15. Disconnect the vapor tube from the purge valve.

16. Disconnect the 2 powertrain control module (PCM) electrical connectors and detach the wiring conduit.

17. Disconnect the power steering reservoir hose and detach the retainer.

18. Remove the bolt and detach the ground wire from the LH fender.
