Fuel pressure regulator
Refer to illustration 11.41
37 Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
38 Relieve fuel system pressure (see Section 2).
39 Disconnect the vacuum line from the pressure regulator.
40 Disconnect the fuel return line from the pressure regulator.
41 Remove the regulator mounting bolts (see illustration). Remove the regulator and O-ring. Discard the O-ring.
42 Check the fuel return line for kinks or worn spots and replace as needed.
43 Lubricate the O-ring with light engine oil (Ford specification ESE- M2C39-F or equivalent). Note: Don’t lubricate the O-ring with silicone grease. It will clog the injectors.
44 The remainder of installation is the reverse of the removal steps. Tighten the pressure regulator bolts to the torque listed in this Chapter’s Specifications.
